Police arrest sex abuse suspect
Police arrested a Casper man Wednesday on suspicion of sexually abusing a teenage girl.
The man was arrested after a 14-year-old girl said he had sexually assaulted her a few days earlier, according to a police affidavit. In an interview with investigators, the man denied the allegation.
The Star-Tribune does not identify the alleged victims of sex crimes.
Assault conviction leads to probation
A Natrona County judge on Wednesday sentenced a man accused of hitting another man with a car to three years of probation and a suspended prison sentence.
Justin Slattery, 39, pleaded no contest late last year to aggravated assault, court records show. A Casper man told police Slattery hit him with a car during a confrontation in August, according to a police affidavit.
Film festival opens tonight
The Casper College Multicultural Film Festival will show the first of three films at 7 tonight in the Wheeler Auditorium at the Wold Physical Science Center.
Tonight's film, LUSAFEST, is a national traveling festival of short films.
The general theme for this year's festival is "Women Around the World," according to organizer Erich Frankland. Following the films, Chad Hanson and Georgia Wheatley will lead a discussion.
The two other films in the festival will be announced and shown at a later date.
There is no cost to attend the event.
GOP women discuss immigration
The Natrona County Republican Women will host a discussion on immigration at noon on Saturday at the Casper Petroleum Club.
Sandy DeFry, manager of the Casper Petroleum Club, will be the guest speaker. DeFry is an immigrant who is now a U.S. citizen.

Choir conducts church tour
The Casper Children's Chorale, under the direction of Marcia Patton, will conduct its annual church tour on Sunday.
The group will sing at the 8:30 a.m. service at First Methodist Church, 332 E. Second St., and at the 10:30 a.m. service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 400 Country Club Rd.

Renowned speaker comes to Casper
Chad Hymas, a member of the National Speakers Association, will speak in honor of National Disability Awareness Month at 3 p.m. on March 2 at the Special Education Services Center (formerly Jefferson Elementary School), 500 S. Jefferson.
Hymas, a quadriplegic after an accident in 2001, was named one of the world's top-10 most inspirational speakers by the Wall Street Journal.
