Central Wyoming Senior Services has received a three-year, $250,000 McMurry Foundation grant to support its building expansion project.
Central Wyoming Senior Services was established in 1975 to provide nutritious meals, companionship and activities for the senior citizens of Natrona County. The organization began serving meals in a church basement and eventually grew into its currently facility at 1831 E. 4th St., which provided more than 72,000 meals last year.
All programs and services through Central Wyoming Senior Services are designed to enhance the ability of the over-60 population in Natrona County to stay active, healthy and independent by offering activities, nutritional support and services to meet their changing needs.
"The grant will enable our program to better serve the over-60 population by expanding our current facility to double the area of the dining room, add additional activity space, client restrooms, an additional serving line, freezer space and 65 additional parking spaces closer to the main dining room," said board president Dave Gossin.
"This incredibly generous lead gift will help the Senior Center build a solid foundation for the future," Gossin said. "We join the whole county in saying thanks to the McMurry family for their continuing support of Natrona County."
