Memorial Day will be observed again this year at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery, unless inclement weather develops. If that happens, events will take place at VFW Memorial Post No. 9439, 1800 Bryan Stock Trail.
The ceremony starts at 11 a.m.
The principal speaker is Maj. Gen. Ed Wright, the adjutant general who is responsible for formulating, developing and coordinating the policies, plans and programs for more than 2,500 members of the Wyoming Air and Army National Guard under his command. He is also responsible for the Wyoming Veterans Commission and the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery.
Kenn Gilchrist will render the national Anthem, and the Natrona County High School Jr. ROTC color guard will present and retire the colors.
Other speakers include Rev. Leonard L. Robinson, a World War II Bataan Death March survivor, Dr. Jacob Dailey, and Cecil V. Barnes, president of the Natrona County United Veterans Council. Dr. Tom Walsh may also speak.
The traditional wreath laying ceremony will be conducted, and the ROTC will perform the 13 folds of the flag.
The public, along with veterans and their families, are welcome to attend the ceremony that honors deceased veterans.
For more information, call Barnes at (307) 234-0485 or Lowe at (307) 265-1585.
