City promotes Bike to Work Week
The City of Casper encourages the community to participate in the Wyoming Bike to Work Week by riding their bicycles to work and practicing bicycle safety.
"I hope that everyone who is able will participate in this fun event, which has both health and environmental benefits." City Manager Tom Forslund said in a news release. Those who choose to participate and complete a log sheet are eligible for statewide prizes through the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
To promote walking and biking in the community, the city is hosting the second annual "Curb Your Car" day on Thursday. Participants are encouraged to leave their cars at home for the day and find other means of transportation to work and do errands. The Bus will be providing free rides on Thursday.

NIC Fest features Junglemobile for kids
As part of NIC Fest 2008, scheduled for June 20-21, the Kiwanis Club of Casper - along with The Children's Hospital and St. Anthony's Central Hospital - will offer children a chance to learn injury prevention in the "Junglemobile" on the festival grounds near the family area.
The Junglemobile will teach children ages 3 to 10 "to play it safe in the jungle" and learn important safety topics.
The Mobile Injury Prevention Program - which is a partnership with The Children's Hospital, St. Anthony's Central Hospital and the Rocky Mountain District Kiwanis - is being offered because unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 14.
