WMC holds community forum

The Wyoming Medical Center will hold a health assessment community forum at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 in the support services building, 1200 E. Third St., according to a release.

During the past year, Wyoming Medical Center, Casper/Natrona County Health Department and Community Health Center of Central Wyoming participated in the Wyoming Rural Performance Improvement Project. The goal of the project is to help improve the efficacy of programs and services provided by these quality health care organizations as well as seek community feedback regarding health care needs now and in the future.

The forum will focus on the progress of this project and the results of the Community Health Assessment, which was conducted in November.

Drag race suspect wants judge to hear case

One of two men charged in connection with a deadly drag race in Casper decided Monday he wanted a judge, rather than a jury, to hear his case.

Dennis Norris, 22, is charged with aiding and abetting drunken driving and reckless driving. Both are misdemeanors.

Authorities accuse Norris of allowing his truck to be driven by Donald Walsh, one of two men who participated in the Aug. 8 drag race. The other man, Corey Campbell, died when his pickup rolled along North Poplar Street.

Blood tests taken after the crash showed Walsh, Campbell and Norris had blood alcohol levels above the legal driving limit, police say. Walsh is charged with drunken driving, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and failing to maintain a single lane of travel.
