Bird banding sets new date

Audubon Wyoming has rescheduled a bird banding session that was canceled because of weather. The session is now scheduled to take place from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Audubon Center at Garden Creek.

MAPS bird banding in Casper will also be held on June 24 and July 1, 15, 22 and 29.

CC course includes Galapagos trip

Students can explore the birthplace of evolutionary theory in a winter session expedition to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands National Park, following the fall course "Charles Darwin and the Galapagos Islands: The Evolution of Evolution."

The course, taught by Scott Seville, is collaboration between the University of Wyoming/Casper College Center and Casper College. It is designed for credit students interested in biological sciences, and may be open for noncredit individuals as well.

Only students who enroll in the fall course will be eligible to participate in the winter session expedition. The travelers to Ecuador will depart Dec. 31 and return Jan. 8. Estimated student travel costs are $5,000 to $5,500, which includes the a national park entrance fee and Ecuador departure fee. Financial aid may be available for qualified students.

Fort's summer reading series begins

Fort Caspar Museum opens its summer reading series with a kickoff event from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Program activities are free of charge. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wyoming authors Eugene Gagliano and Kenneth Thomasma will read and discuss their books at different times during the day.
