Authorities flew a boy Sunday morning to the Wyoming Medical Center after he was caught in a boat's propellers at Alcova Lake.

The boy was floating in the water when he became caught about 11 a.m. as the boat moved toward an island near Cottonwood Beach, Wyoming Game and Fish spokeswoman Janet Milek said Monday. She did not know how old the boy was and did not release his name.

Deputies with the Natrona County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene first and the boy was flown to the hospital by helicopter. Milek said that the boy is expected to survive.

There was no alcohol involved in the incident and everybody had life jackets, Milek said.

"This is a reminder that accidents can happen so easily and people need to be aware at all times when they're operating watercraft," she said.
