A Casper man died early Thursday morning as a result of a motorcycle accident on Amoco road Wednesday evening.

About 8:15 p.m., 28-year-old Stephen Fleming's motorcycle apparently went off the south side of the pavement about one-quarter mile east of the intersection with North Poplar Street. The bike traveled several hundred feet through a field.

Fleming suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Wyoming Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at 1:30 a.m. due to severe brain injuries.

A witness said he and about seven others were riding motorcycles alongside the victim when the accident occurred.

The witness, who declined to give his name, said he thinks the accident was caused by the rider running over a rabbit. The victim was not wearing a helmet.

Toxicology reports are pending and there is no autopsy planned.
