Casper police confirmed Monday that the body recovered from the North Platte River on Sunday afternoon was that of Bobbie Stringham.
Sgt. Deahn Amend said the Casper Fire Department spotted Stringham's body about 3 p.m. near the North Casper Soccer Complex while performing routine patrols.
The body was about two feet under water when recovery workers found it. It was located about 100 yards downstream of the footbridge and about 15 feet from shore, Casper Fire Department Public Information Officer Justin Smith said.
A forensic autopsy will be conducted by the Natrona County Coroner’s Office.
Stringham went missing in the early morning hours of Jan. 19 near the Showboat Motel. That same morning, police and firefighters attempted to rescue a woman who was clinging to the ice in the North Platte River and was swept under.
The fire department had been regularly searching for Stringham.
