The Park County Sheriff’s Office launched a new website to help law enforcement officials and residents monitor sex offenders who live in the county, according to a press release.
Park County is the final county in Wyoming to join the nationwide network of law enforcement agencies that use OffenderWatch.
Using the program, the sheriff’s office can verify whether offenders who are forbidden from living close to schools, day cares and parks are in violation.
OffenderWatch also helps the sheriff’s office schedule compliance checks to verify information provided by offenders.
The website allows residents to search for offender addresses by entering any address in the county and a radius. Information on the website is continuously updated by the sheriff’s office.
Residents can also confidentially register their address to be monitored by the sheriff’s office, which will send an email alerting them if an offender registers an address close to their home.
The program also has online resources to inform people about ways to keep their families safe.
“The purpose of the program is to lessen the anxiety of citizens by proactively alerting them should an offender/predator move within proximity to them, and to provide the highest level of security and safety to all Park County citizens,” the press release said.
The OffenderWatch registry can be found on the Park County Sheriff’s Office website, www.parkcountysheriff.net. The sex offender registry link is in the top right corner of the home page.
