Winter Used Book Sale

* Through Jan. 17, the Winter Used Book Sale is sponsored by the Goshen County Library Foundation and held at 228 East 20th Ave., several doors east of the Goshen County Library in Torrington. Wyoming State Museum

* Through Jan. 15, "Pocketbook Anthropology: A Treasure of Handbags," a display of unique women's handbag's, is on display at the Wyoming State Museum in the Barrett Building at 2301 Central Ave. in Cheyenne. Snowshoe Hikes

* Through March, the Bridger-Teton National Forest will offer naturalist-led snowshoe tours from the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Nordic Center. Naturalists will hike with the participants on an easy one-mile long loop trail through a wooded area of the forest, and they will also educate the hikers about wildlife habitat and behavior, natural and geological history of the area, fire ecology and many other topics. Suitable for kids and beginning snowshoe hikers. Hikes offered free of charge, snowshoes can be rented before the hike departs. Hikes scheduled every Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. Meet at the White Nordic Center tent near the Ranch Lot parking area at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort just east of the Snake River Lodge and Spa. Sleigh Rides

* Now through March, the National Elk Refuge will start the sleigh ride season through the refuge's popular wildlife viewing program. Sleigh rides will operate daily from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Jackson Hole & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center at 532 N. Cache St. in Jackson. Purchase tickets at the Visitor Center daily, and take a shuttle to the sleigh boarding area. Wagons will be substituted for sleighs if there is a lack of snow coverage. WY Veterans Benefit

* Many Wyoming Military veterans don't know all the benefits they're entitled to even years after they proudly served The U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs benefits office in Cheyenne is hosting a series of outreach sessions across the state to explain all the benefits veterans may be entitled to. Vets can ask and get information about medical, disability and other insurance benefits, and also about education benefits, even guaranteed home loans. Wolves of Lamar Valley

* Feb. 7-10, the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance once again offers an opportunity to experience the wolves and wildlife of Yellowstone. The trip will be lead by Alliance Executive Director, Dr. Franz Camenzind. After two complete days of wildlife watching in Yellowstone, the group will spend the last evening at Chico Hot Springs. Historic Ivinson Mansion

* The Historic Ivinson Mansion at 603 Ivinson Ave. in Laramie are having tours. Parent-education seminars

* The Wyoming Children s Access Network provides parent-education seminars for divorcing, separated and never-married parents. The seminar is provided monthly in Casper, Cheyenne, Cody, Gillette, Jackson, Lander, Laramie, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Torrington, and now Afton, Pinedale and Worland on a quarterly basis, and provides information about the impact of parental conflict on children and teaches the parents skills to help with the difficult transition. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and other adults close to the children are welcome to attend as well.There is a nominal fee for the seminar that may be waived upon request, based on need.
