Seeking heritage speakers of German
I am a graduate student in the School of Education at the University of Wyoming and would appreciate your help.
For my graduate research project, I am trying to locate heritage speakers of German in three test areas: Wheatland, Casper and Star Valley. If you are a heritage speaker of German, please contact me before Feb. 28, 2005. I'll send you a brief questionnaire and then we can have a short phone conversation.
Knowing approximately how many heritage speakers there are in each community and how to find them will add to the general body of knowledge, which may help further research projects and language programs for many languages and cultures.
For this research, you would just need to complete the short questionnaire and participate in a brief phone interview with me.
Please contact me at (307) 265-3696 or {M7mhperry@trib.com.
Danke.

Suicide hotline local
A national suicide hotline (1-800-suicide) is now being routed to the Wyoming Behavioral Institute in Casper. Previously, when this number was called, it was answered in Georgia. Now when someone calls and indicates that they are from Wyoming, the call will be routed to Casper. With this development, local referrals can then be made for people who call. Wyoming Behavioral Institute has trained staff on duty around the clock so this was a natural choice.
