Editor:
What people choose to know and what they choose to believe are, unfortunately, often diametrically opposed.
If you choose to believe a thing that has moral value, then that is an honorable endeavor and should win the believer a modest amount of respect.
If you choose to believe a thing that has no moral value and repeat it for the personal satisfaction of denigrating someone or something, then that is not only dishonorable, but diminishes you and any credibility you may have had.
A TV "comedian" pandering to his fans, criticized the Palin's large family as "living in a Mormon compound" then went on to say, "and then there's Sarah's kids; Trick or Truck or whatever (messed) up redneck name she gave them," all this to a tumultuous cheering from his liberal audience.
Another "comedienne" claimed Sarah Palin "appeals to the white trash vote with a toned down porn actress look." Madonna also got into the act chanting, "Sarah Palin, get off of my street," or something like that at a concert.
Not to be outdone local "pundits" added their acidic comments with phrases like "Caribou Barbie," "A python in go-go boots," "Brainless moose killer," and so on. The onslaught continued with making fun of the way that she speaks, facial expressions, gestures and the clothes she wears.
The criticism from the liberal side is almost exclusively focused on personal denigration rather than anything of real substance.
As commander in chief of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard, Gov. Palin is routinely briefed on military and international issues and has a higher classified security rating than Obama or Biden. The rest of her accomplishments are well known and need no further elucidation.
As far as any other fault found by the left, whose army of snoopers are searching frantically for anything no matter how moot (you know, trooper-gate, the library book ban, etc.) a trip to Fact Check Dot Com will quickly and succinctly inform you that it is all just either blatantly not true or greatly exaggerated.
I would dearly love to be there when Todd Palin meets Bill Maher!
