Wolf tale is instructional

I read with great interest the July 8 article about a Jackson couple encountering a protective male wolf in the course of a hike. Obviously, the wolf took his family responsibilities quite seriously and made his point without attacking and killing everyone in the traditional fashion of wolves everywhere. He is to be commended for his restraint.

In contrast, the same page of the paper had a story concerning a Montana couple in the news. It seems that the wife admits in court that she burned her daughter with a light bulb while she was under the influence of meth. Her husband kicked and assaulted the pregnant wife in 2004 causing the baby to be stillborn. The wife is now pregnant again.

Perhaps the above wolves could be persuaded to give us "civilized" people lessons in parenting since they obviously do a damn sight better job of it. Taking things one step further, the male wolf would be a fine choice for Homeland Security Director. It sure wouldn't be a toothless organization anymore!
