No help from Washington

As a Wyoming citizen who seldom agrees with our Washington delegation’s attitude, I have recently seen a change as to how they respond or in my case fail to respond. I would compare their response to a male mountain lion that has been treed by a pack of lion hounds. When the hunter gets to the tree after the dogs have treed a male lion it is not uncommon to see the male lion asleep in the tree. What the hell does he ( the big male lion) care about a pack of dogs yapping at him, he is safe in the tree and he is on the top of the food chain.

Our senators are elected for six years and have lots of big money campaign dollars in their war chest. Sooner or later those who ask the tough questions will either leave or dry up. All they have to do is go to sleep in the tree.

That is until lately; I usually receive a response back from either (Craig Thomas, when alive, Barbara Cubin, or Alan Simpson when in office) Mike Enzi, John Barrasso and now Cynthia Lummis with something like this, "Glad to hear from you and I will look into it." I knew very well the "glad to hear from you" was a lie, as what I had to say was not what the wealthy contributors who kept them in office were not about to agree with because it would cost them money or loss of power, but all they had to do was to wait out the yapping from below.

Today with the problems the Bush-Cheney mistakes have cost the GOP in losses of both the House and Senate along with Barack Obama bringing back the stock market as well as a looming health care bill passage, I either get a testy letter from Enzi or no comment from Barrasso or Lummis. Yeah, the lion has finally realized they had better wake up and watch for the group on top of the political food chain, the disappointed Wyoming voter.
