Editor:
In America's political nut house, the inmates are suffering from an illness called Selective Deficit Disorder.
When President Barack Obama promises not to sign a health plan that adds one dime to our deficit and this is accepted as truth and fiscal sanity, those who accept that lie must have been lobotomized in that political nut house.
Selective Deficit Disorder is a sickness of having no common sense in understanding that deficit spending is harmful to our children's future no matter which political party is wasting our national wealth.
And how can we rate the rationality of a person who wins the White House in large measure because he spoke against that wasteful stupid insane war in Iraq that wasted $12 billion U.S. tax dollars each month, and then he instantly ratchets up the war in Afghanistan?
There is a lot of yelling that President Obama is doing too much deficit spending but these same people were silent when Dick Cheney said deficit spending did not matter. And why didn't they march on Washington when President Bush vastly expanded the deficit with huge tax cuts for the wealthy? Why didn't they yell when Bush approved $700 billion tax dollars to the thieves on Wall Street?
Where are the demands for fiscal sanity when military spending gets half the annual tax money?
They were nowhere to be heard because they are only selectively worried about deficit spending. When it comes to spending on priorities for little working people that just want to earn a decent living, they scream about overspending.
But when it comes to giving trillions of dollars to financial firms, defense contractors, the Pentagon and other corporate fat cat, deficits suddenly don' matter.
