Editor:
On Oct. 8, there was an article about workers' compensation. Before I got the paper, I took a person that had gotten an appointment to the Community Health Center of Central Wyoming the day before for Oct. 8.
When we got to the window they filled out the papers and said it was a workers compensation visit for renewal of medication. At that point they were told the appointment was cancelled; they could not see the doctor any more for workers' compensation. When we asked how they were to get the needed medication we were given a list of doctors that are already full, not taking any more new patients. We left without the prescriptions; the doctor's office said they would have the nurse call them.
I had an appointment in the afternoon so I asked a doctor if it was possible to get the medication prescriptions. The doctor told me workers compensation said the doctors at Community Health Center and Central Wyoming were not good enough, therefore they would not pay them any longer for their services.
I know every time there is something that has to be done at the doctor's office, workers' compensation has denied it and then you have to go to an attorney to get it done.
Workers' compensation wants one of three things for the people injured while at work to do. First: To commit suicide after going through not being able to support their family any longer, frustrated from gaining weight and depression. Second: Suffering from pain that won't go away until they just can't any more and die. Third: To give up as I did -- after 14 years of pain I'm finally 66 and getting Medicare and Medicaid and getting help.
I think it has been known workers' compensation in Wyoming has so much money that has not been used where it should have been used; that they could easily pay Community Health Center of Central Wyoming for their good care they give. This is just one more way to get rid of the injured workers. The only way for them to get help now is to leave Wyoming or to all get together and go to Cheyenne where the workers' compensation office is and let them know they can't do what they do.
Our state of Wyoming representatives are not going to help with this -- they say at this time they can't.
Don't blame Community Health Center of Central Wyoming for this, put it on workers' compensation of Wyoming in Cheyenne.
