Editor:
Ever notice there is a remarkable comparison to the pine beetle -- it is similar in characteristics to the current politics in the nation, state and county.
The pine beetle brings issues to bear on the core values and quality of life within the tree, not much different than the current politics conducted today.
Reading all the current political topics reveals for the most part reactionary responses, and like the pine tree the action is applying sap to boring issues from political fields.
However like the pesky pine beetle or that Republican or Democratic politician, each feeds upon the grains of power, but each truly fails to act until election time or spring time.
Though the real shame is each issue grows more noticeable, as the brown needles on the tree, or the undone campaign words from their political promises. Each produces a red forest within public view.
However, year after year the public fails to recognize the signs of a dying forest by the brown needles or sap oozing from the bark. In reality there's no difference between that same public which fails to recognize or remember the sap that oozed forth from the spoken words of elected officials.
Oh well Wyoming, the cycle will repeat itself, just like the beetle. Whether our children will see a new style of leadership and quality of life depends on the approach at the upcoming election.
We know in Wyoming next year our forest will turn more gray than green. I wonder why we as voters haven't figured out Republicans or Democrats have made our nation more gray and in the red today.
