Editor:
I just read some interesting information on the Internet explaining "opportunity and economics." Let's see if I understand how a few things work. If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you can get 12 years at hard labor. If you cross the Iranian border illegally, you may be detained indefinitely. If you cross the Afghan border illegally, things may happen quickly. You may just be shot on the spot. That's not a good thing.
If you cross the Saudi Arabian border, the Chinese border, the Venezuelan border or the Cuban border, you may not do much better (if in fact you're ever heard from again). But, whenever you cross the U.S. border illegally, you get a job, a driver's license, a Social Security card, welfare, food stamps, credit cards, subsidized housing (or a loan from Uncle Same to buy a home), free education, free health care, and a lobbyist in Washington. In some instances, you can even vote!
It is interesting how things differ in different areas, right?
