Two arrests in embezzlement case
GILLETTE -- Police have arrested two people in connection with an embezzlement scheme involving a former bookkeeper for the Fox Park Homeowners Association.
Campbell County Sheriff Bill Pownall said 52-year-old Pete Deliramich and 36-year-old Hailey Jacobsen Remmick were arrested Wednesday and both were expected to make initial court appearances this week. The two face charges in connection with the case against 57-year-old Julie Deliramich, who was convicted last week of 10 felony counts of forgery and embezzlement.
Julie Deliramich failed to show up for the jury verdict in her case and authorities were searching for her.
Prosecutors say that she embezzled money from the homeowners association and that she gave the money to her husband, Pete Deliramich, and her daughter, Remmick.
Roads close for winter
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK -- Roads into the interior of Yellowstone National Park will close for the winter on Monday, limiting access to Old Faithful, Canyon and Fishing Bridge until the snowpack is cleared from the roads in the spring.
The roads will reopen for guided snowmobile and snowcoach travel beginning Dec. 15.
Outside the park, US Highway 212 is closed east of Cooke City, Mont., ending travel for the season over the Beartooth Highway to Red Lodge, Mont., and over the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway to Cody.
The road from Gardiner, Mont., through Mammoth Hot Springs to Cooke City is open to wheeled vehicle travel all year.
Meanwhile, the latest snowstorm has resulted in another section of Wyoming roadway being closed for the winter.
Wyoming 70 is now closed over Battle Pass between Encampment and Baggs in the Sierra Madre Range in southern Wyoming.
Wyoming 130 to the east in the Snowy Range and U.S. 212 leading to Beartooth Pass in northwest Wyoming have already been closed for the winter.
The highways will reopen next spring, traditionally sometime in May.
Police hold gang conference
ROCK SPRINGS -- More than 85 law enforcement officers and prosecutors from around Wyoming gathered in Rock Springs this week for a three-day seminar on gangs.
Sweetwater County Undersheriff Craig Jackson said gangs have established themselves all over Wyoming.
Jackson said effective networking and cooperation among law enforcement agencies is essential in handling gangs and gang-related issues. He said that's why he hopes the conference will become an annual event.
The conference drew gang experts from a variety of jurisdictions in Wyoming and elsewhere.
Controlled burning starts
JACKSON -- Crews have begun burning piles of woody debris on top of Snow King Mountain, south of Jackson.
The Teton Interagency Fire staff began lighting piles of woody debris on top of the mountain on Thursday. The five piles are on lands managed by the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
The piles are situated so that people in the valley may see flames and smoke.
