TribTown is bustling as what passes for autumn in Wyoming glides by quickly.
It was a wet summer and that got me wondering if it was going to be a rough winter and, sure enough, we had snow in Casper before October. Hey, Sept. 30 still counts. It's been my pleasure to watch discussions grow on both TribTown and Trib.com, and they've both increased quite a bit of late.
Here's the news around TribTown:
I'm sad to say that "Fxgal's" feline companion Beowulf still hasn't been found, so I thought I'd mention once again that there is a cash reward for information regarding his whereabouts. Call 1-800-669-8944.
On a lighter (and tastier) note,TribTowner "erindevers" shared this amazing recipe:
"To start off, a simple recipe that has turned into a staple side dish (or late-night snack) ... It's very basic: chop up some red potatoes and add a wee bit of olive oil and rosemary. Bake in a 400 degree oven for about 30-45 minutes until crispy. But here's what makes the recipe different: lemon mayo.
"Normally I don't like mayonnaise much, but when you add a few tablespoons of lemon juice and use it for a dipping sauce for these potatoes, it really makes the dish stand out. The original recipe (courtesy of Rachael Ray) calls for 3/4 cup of mayo to 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice, but play around with it. Either way, make sure to mix it thoroughly."
She promises the recipe is delicious and I'm inclined to spend some time this weekend trying to find out for myself. Check out her blog to see some mouth-watering photos of potato-y goodness: http://tribtown.trib.com/post/erindevers/blog.
The University of Wyoming hockey team asked me to share the following:
"The University of Wyoming Cowboy hockey team is opening up the 2009-2010 season in Casper this year when we take on the Montana State University Bobcats at the Casper Ice Arena, Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:15 pm. We would love to have the support of Casper hockey fans as we make a run at the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division III National Championships. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students, available at the door Saturday night."
It's the first game of the season and it should be fun to watch. Feel free to present TribTowner and UW goalie "Pokeshockey" with questions or comments you have about the game and the season. His blog is available at http://tribtown.trib.com/pokeshockey/blog.
Be sure to check out Eric Schmoldt's UW football live blog today, as the Pokes go up against Florida Atlantic. Eric should start chatting about noon. His blog can be found at http://tribtown.trib.com/post/ESchmoldt/blog/florida_atlantic_live_blog.html.
