Helicopter crashes in SW Wyo
ROCK SPRINGS - The Bureau of Land Management says a helicopter crashed south of Rock Springs but no details were immediately available.
A spokesman for the BLM told the Daily Rocket-Miner in Rock Springs that the helicopter crashed at a Devon Energy drilling site located 20 miles south of Rock Springs.
But the BLM said it could not comment on the crash.
Officials with Devon Energy and the helicopter company did not immediately release any details.
A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration says the agency had no information about the crash but was looking into it.
Former teacher receives sentence
CHEYENNE - A 42-year-old former sixth-grade teacher in Cheyenne has been sentenced to a year and a day in prison for lying to federal agents in connection with an investigation into a suspected drug ring.
Irena F. Mondello, of Cheyenne, also was ordered to pay a $400 fine and serve three years of supervised release.
Her attorney, Sean Barrett, said he was considering appealing the sentence which was handed down earlier this month by U.S. District Judge William Downes.
Mondello had pleaded guilty to lying to federal agents in March after being arrested earlier this year on suspicion of attempting to possess cocaine.
