RAWLINS -- Carbon County authorities have filed three charges of attempted first-degree murder against a Rawlins man accused of firing shots at his girlfriend and two police officers.

A Carbon County circuit court judge on Tuesday set bail at $1 million for Trevor Lee Davidson, 30, who's being held in the Carbon County jail. The judge schedule a preliminary hearing for Tuesday.

Davidson is accused of shooting about 50 rounds during a rampage Sunday night at his Rawlins apartment, according to a police affidavit.

Davidson planned to apply for a public defender, but hadn't completed the paperwork as of Tuesday, a court employee said.

Davidson allegedly became upset and began shooting inside his apartment and hit a television, the affidavit said. Police say he then fired shots at his girlfriend in the parking lot, at a neighbor and two officers.

Davidson's girlfriend suffered non-life-threatening injuries to her legs from being hit by bullet fragments when Davidson shot at the ground around her legs, according to the affidavit.

Responding officers told investigators they could see a fire in Davidson's apartment, apparently started when he shot a chain saw in the residence, and could see Davidson holding a rifle in the building.

Davidson surrendered after about 15 minutes when he exited the apartment with his hands up.

"Mr. Davidson stated that he knew officers were going to enter the residence and to keep officers away from the building, he was firing shots," Rawlins police Detective Troy Palmer wrote in his affidavit. "When smoke entered the building, Mr. Davidson believed that officers had fired smoke bombs into the building and that is why he surrendered."

The police investigation revealed bullet damage to nearby buildings and cars, in addition to the damage inside his apartment. Davidson allegedly used at least three rifles, a pistol and a shotgun during the incident, the affidavit said.

Davidson also faces a charge of felony property destruction and three counts of misdemeanor reckless endangering.
