Sunset Drive to reopen Oct. 10
ROCK SPRINGS n The Wyoming Department of Transportation plans to reopen the Sunset Drive portion of the Dewar Drive/Gateway Boulevard intersection on Oct. 10, according to a release.
According to the schedule, the contractor intends to be finished paving Dewar Drive on Nov. 1 and finished paving Interstate 80 in mid October. David Wick, project supervisor for Upper Plains Contracting, Inc. said, "We're confident we'll make the Nov. 30 contract completion date."
Looking forward into the schedule, the asphalt contractor anticipates paving Swanson Drive during the week of Oct. 13. The normal Thursday public meeting will take place on Oct. 9 so the public and business owners may provide feedback to the contractor and the Wyoming Department of Transportation with problems encountered with the closure on Sunset Drive.
The meetings take place on Thursdays at 2 p.m. at the WYDOT headquarters at 3200 Elk Street, in the upstairs conference room, Room 226.
WYDOT advises motorists to obey posted speed limits, devote their full attention to the flaggers and changes in traffic patterns, traffic control devices, signing, and lane markings to get through the construction area safely. They should also increase their usual following distance, move into the correct lane well in-advance, restrict cell phone usage or other distractions, and be aware of their surroundings.
