RIVERTON -- A man wanted in connection with an attempted robbery of US Bank in Riverton a week ago is still at large, and the FBI is asking for the community’s help.
FBI Special Agent Kathy Wright said it’s tips from people in the community -- such as what they saw in the area of Broadway and East Park Avenue the morning of Nov. 6 -- that could lead to an arrest.
Was there anything out of the ordinary? Was there a car circling the block or a stranger walking the street? These are examples of questions she hopes everyone living in the area or who passed by that morning asks himself.
She said she wants people to think back and “take note of the location, the date and time.”
Even little things that “didn’t mean anything at the time,” she said, could be important and can be passed on anonymously by calling the FBI office in Lander or online at fbi.gov.
She said authorities do know the masked man was about 6 feet tall and weighed around 200 pounds, and may have left the scene in a blue or gray newer-model Ford Escape. He broke into the bank around 7:30 a.m. by forcing a female employee in at gunpoint. The woman was unlocking the bank door.
He abandoned his attempt after the employee told him she could not give him the money because it was locked up. And though he tied her up before leaving, she was able to escape from her restraints and call police. She was not injured in the incident.
