RIVERTON -- Riverton police have arrested two women on suspicion of drinking while driving with a 6-week-old baby in their vehicle.

Riverton Police Sgt. Bart Ringer said the baby was found in a child carrier on the floor of a van covered by a blanket and surrounded by containers of liquor. The child was taken into protective custody by the Tribal Department of Family Services.

The 20-year-old driver was cited for not having a valid driver's license and also charged with DUI, resisting arrest and not having a child restraint.

The 18-year-old mother of the child faces a child endangerment charge as well as underage drinking.
