NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - Police arrested two people on drug and stolen property charges after an apartment near downtown Nampa was hit by gunfire Sunday, the latest in a string of shootings in this southwestern Idaho city.

Twelve to 14 shots fired from more than one weapon struck an apartment at 5:55 a.m., the Nampa Police Department said in a statement.

Shots appeared to have been fired from the street at the apartment. Police also said gunfire was returned from the house toward a vehicle in the street.

Police later recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen on Friday and had gunshot evidence connecting it to the shooting.

Officers seized drugs and allegedly stolen items from the apartment.

Leticia Teeples, 34, a resident of the apartment, was arrested for investigation of possession of methamphetamine and possession of stolen property. William K. Medley, 21, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property.

In a vehicle parked nearby, police found items believed from a burglary in Nampa.

There have been more than 175 shootings in Canyon County since last July. Sunday morning's shooting comes less than 48 hours after a man was wounded Friday night in an exchange of gunfire at a Nampa movie theater - a shooting police think was gang-related.
