Swine flu count hits 103

CHEYENNE - The number of confirmed swine flu cases in Wyoming has exceeded 100.

The Wyoming Department of Health says it has confirmed 103 swine flu cases in nine counties. The department says it expects the actual number of cases is higher because many infected people don't seek health care.

The confirmed cases include 57 in Laramie County, 17 in Sweetwater County and 13 in Lincoln County.

There have also been three cases in each of Natrona and Uinta counties, two each in Albany and Fremont counties, and one each in Campbell and Johnson counties.

The department says the virus has led to three people being hospitalized.

Swine flu symptoms are similar to seasonal flu and can include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headaches and fatigue.

Actor escapes serious harm

GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK - Los Angeles actor Byron Thames said he learned a valuable lesson about preparation after a float down the Snake River went awry.

Grand Teton National Park rangers rescued the 40-year-old and his 15-year-old son after a branch punctured part of their inflatable raft and tipped them into rough water Friday.

Thames said he was trapped in a tangle of branches with his head submerged before he could free himself and make his way upstream to where his son was clinging to a logjam.

Thames said Monday that locals had told him the stretch of river they wanted to ride was relaxing and mellow.

Park officials say Thames was cited with not having life jackets and failing to obtain a park boat permit.

Thames has appeared on TV shows including "E.R." and "21 Jump Street," according to his Web site.

Deputy finds missing body

RAWLINS - A body recovered from the Encampment River over the weekend has been identified as that of a Colorado man who disappeared last month while kayaking.

The Carbon County Sheriff's Department says the body has been identified as 35-year-old Brian Stothart of Steamboat Springs, Colo. He drowned while kayaking on June 13.

Carbon County Deputy Sheriff Troy Vorn found Stothart's body on Saturday morning in the Encampment River Canyon. Vorn found the body while patrolling the river on horseback about one-half mile downstream from the site where Stothart was last seen by fellow boaters.
