CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A judge sentenced a man to 12 years of probation for transmitting child pornography over the Internet.
Daniel Taylor, 38, of Cheyenne had pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child in November.
"If it weren't for people like you, Mr. Taylor - if there wasn't a market for it - it wouldn't be happening," Laramie County Circuit Judge Denise Nau said Thursday.
Taylor sent digital files to Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation agent Flint Waters in August, authorities said. In those pictures, a girl was performing a sex act on an adult male, according to court records.
Taylor said the girl was 11 years old, according to court records.
Waters was posing as a woman and asked Taylor to e-mail the images.
Taylor's brother, pastor and employer spoke on his behalf before sentencing.
Taylor was spared from prison in part because his employer offered to limit Taylor's Internet access and invited law enforcement to search the computer at any time. Most defendants don't have that support, attorneys on both sides agreed.
Taylor also must undergo testing to reveal if there is a tendency toward committing sex offenses.
