SPANISH FORK, Utah (AP) - A snake-breeding business that had upset some people in Mapleton has found a home next door.

The Spanish Fork Planning Commission approved it, 4-1, with no limits Wednesday. Dan and Colette Sutherland plan to have 1,500 ball python snakes and their babies, along with mice and rats to feed the slippery creatures.

"It's finally over. Thank you to Spanish Fork," Dan Sutherland said.

The Sutherlands chose Spanish Fork after Mapleton planners said they would have to reduce the number of snakes.

Planning commissioners placed some conditions on the business, including a security system, no venomous snakes and cages for rodents.
