It's the best news - especially the best news about gas - anyone's heard in a long, long time.

Gas in Wyoming is less than $2 per gallon, a truly amazing revelation considering that a gallon cost over $4 during July, just four months ago.

The headline of the top story in the Nov. 4 Gillette News-Record says it all - "Woohoo: Gas for less than $2."

And the story itself confirms that everyone is worried the less-than-we-could've-hoped-for prices won't last much longer.

For now, though, we can bask in the glory of a $25 fill-up.

In a land far, far away

A Peruvian sheepherder in Kaycee? You bet.

The Buffalo Bulletin ran a story about the resident, who works as part of a skilled worker program in the area.

Plinio Meza Lazaro, whose name alone tells you he's probably not from around here, is doing it for the experience, traveling and picking up a second language while also earning money to support his family, he told Bulletin reporter J.R. Logan.

Although he's lonely without his family, Lazaro is taking challenges with communication and the solitary lifestyle in stride, trying to make it work with other Peruvians also working in the area.

And what's the most interesting part of life in Wyoming for a Peruvian visitor? A traditional Western county fair, of course! Lazaro said he enjoys the mutton-busting event the most.

Greybull's newest sports heroes

Sports heroes rarely miss the credit they deserve for being the best at their respective activities.

They're given medals, endorsement deals and, sometimes, large sums of money for their accomplishments.

But the Greybull Standard gave necessary credit to a couple of its own true champions in a sport not often recognized for its difficulty - bowling.

Greybull High School students Matt Franken and Rusty Slife won the gold and silver medals, respectively, at the state Special Olympics bowling competition, held Oct. 15 to 17 in Casper.

Franken bowled a 466, and Rusty a 438, according to a story in the Nov. 6 edition of the Standard.

Congratulations, guys!
