CHEYENNE - A legislative committee has postponed action on two of the three gambling bills that representatives of Wyoming's only horse-racing track claim is needed to help offset the track's negative cash flow.

The third bill, however, cleared its first test before the full Wyoming House when the chamber approved House Bill 92 in committee of the whole. The bill, which would expand the scope of pari-mutuel wagering in the state to all rodeo events, is scheduled for second reading today. Pari-mutuel wagering is now limited to only roping events.

The House Agriculture Committee on Tuesday decided to wait until Thursday to consider HB 93 , "Advance deposit pari-mutuel wagering," and HB 94 , "Pull tab authorized sales," according to Dick Wallis, lobbyist for Wyoming Downs, Inc.

Wallis said HB 94 would expand authorized sales of pull tabs, which can now only be sold by nonprofit groups. HB 93 would let bettors set up accounts with licensed companies and phone in their bets.
