Nobody was injured when a helicopter crashed Tuesday morning near Cody.

Park County Sheriff Scott Steward said that a man was flying his friend and her parents on a sightseeing tour when the helicopter had an apparent equipment malfunction about 9 a.m.

The malfunction forced the pilot to bring the helicopter down for a hard landing in an agricultural field about seven miles southeast of Cody, Steward said.

"I'd say it was a combination of a hard landing and a crash," Steward said. "The helicopter's totaled."

The four occupants suffered nothing more than minor scrapes and bruises, he added.
