RIVERTON - According to the wishes of the deceased, Ralph E. Dannaldson, 80, no services are scheduled. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be scattered in the Wind River Mountains sometime during the summer.

He died March 7, 2004, at Riverton Memorial Hospital.

Born June 28, 1923, in Warrensburg, Mo., he was the son of Charles Roy and Naomi Ward Dannaldson. His father died in 1926, leaving his mother to raise him and his six siblings. At the age of 17, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and traveled to Hawaii where the group built roads and bridges. He then joined the U.S. Army and served overseas during WW II.

On Oct. 9, 1948, he married Opal Nadean Prettyman. With a son and daughter born to their union, they raised their family near Los Angeles, California.

A machinist by trade, they moved to San Francisco, Calif., in 1975, where he worked at Hunter's Point Naval Shipyard as a foreman of the Triple- A machine shop. There he was responsible for the custom parts of the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.

Retiring in 1985, the couple moved to Riverton to be close to their children. He will be remembered as a man who could fix practically anything mechanical. He enjoyed time in his woodshop and helping his daughter and son-in-law on their small farm.

Survivors include his son, Bruce Dannaldson and his wife of Florida; his daughter, Susan Danovsky and her husband of Pavillion; a granddaughter and grandson, Sarah Roth and Paul Dannaldson; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his grandson Samuel, and his entire birth family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.
