DOUGLAS - Services for Las Vegas resident Ray Rodriguez, 54, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, in Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas. Inurnment will take place near Douglas.
He died March 9, 2004, in Las Vegas.
Born April 18, 1949, in Wheatland, he was the son of Mary Alice and Manuel Rodriguez Jr.; and was raised and educated in Wheatland, living with his grandparents, Sadie and Manuel Rodriguez Sr.
He graduated from Wheatland High School in 1967. During his high-school years, he was active in athletics, particularly football; and enjoyed participating in plays in junior and senior years.
He appeared in several plays while attending Casper College for two years, then attended Chadron, Neb., State College for a year.
In September 1970, he married Linda Meyer in Casper.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1971 and was in military intelligence, working for a national security agency for his five years of service, including three years in Germany.
After his honorable discharge, he worked at Amoco Refinery in Casper, then transferred to Denver City, Texas. At the time of his death, he was working for the U.S. Postal Service in Las Vegas.
Survivors include his father of Douglas; mother, Mary Alice Van Orthdahl of Casper; two sons, Sean Rodriguez and his wife of Amarillo, Texas, and Toby Rodriguez of Denver; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Margaret Raida and Vickie Doherty, both of Casper, and Mary Kay Lenzen and Maxine Kaper, both of Douglas.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; stepmother, Sally Rodriguez; a brother, Richard; and a sister, Marianne.
