PINEDALE - Graveside memorial services for Marion Caroline (Thompson) Boroff, 80, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, in Pinedale Cemetery.

Born prematurely on April 25, 1923, in Merna, she was one of seven children of Harry and Laura "Toots" Thompson; and was kept in a shoebox near the woodstove to keep warm. She attended country school through the 10th grade and then moved to Pinedale to attend high school.

After graduation, she attended business school in Lincoln, Neb., but returned after one year because she missed western Wyoming. She then met Max Boroff at a dance in the Bronx community.

The couple was married Dec. 20, 1942, in Sabetha, Kan., where he was stationed in the U.S. Army.

After returning to Wyoming, they worked for Mrs. Bill Todd on her ranch near the Green River. In 1944, they bought the Link West ranch.

She was named ranch woman of the year in 1992 by the Green River Valley Cowbelles and received the Quealy Award from the Wyoming Extension Homemakers Council in 1994. Active in community and agricultural organizations, she was a member of the Cowbelles, Bronx Community Club, 4-H, Sublette County Fair and School boards, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and county cemetery and election boards.

An excellent cook, she was known for her rye and wheat breads.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years; four children, Caroline Brazell of Pinedale, Max Jr. "Joe" of Merna, Jon of Daniel and Candace of Star Valley; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinedale Hospice Progrram, Sublette Center or the Episcopal Church.
