The Casper Rockies baseball club is changing its name to the Ghosts, team officials said today at a press conference.

"The future of professional baseball in Casper is the Casper Ghosts," said Matt Warneke, the Ghosts' Director of Sales and Marketing and "Director of Fun."

After announcing the new name team, officials unveiled four new logos for the Colorado Rockies' Rookie League affiliate. The first said "Ghosts" in rust orange with a "Western" font. The next two included the image of cartoon character Casper the Friendly Ghost. The Ghosts teamed up with Classic Media, the company that owns the cartoon's name and image, to create the images.

The first image with the cartoon showed the ghost with a cowboy hat and two pistols. The second image of Casper is similar to the University of Wyoming logo. It has Casper on a horse with one hand on his saddle and the other raising the his cowboy hat high in the air.

The images with Casper will not be worn by the players, rather they are for a separate souvenir line intended for families and children.

Finally, the team unveiled the logo the players will wear. It says Casper Ghosts and there is a "mystical ghost-like" baseball on top. The ball has teeth, eyes and the seam of the baseball doubles as the ghost's eyebrow.

Team merchandise will be available at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, and team hats will be available on Dec. 1. The Ghosts' hats feature glow-in-the-dark logos and owner Kevin Haughian said the Ghosts are the first team in professional sports to have that feature.
