CHEYENNE - Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will be in Jackson Tuesday for a fundraiser and to meet with Republican precinct people, Wyoming GOP Chairman Fred Parady said Thursday.
Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson is also expected to be in Jackson Tuesday for a private fundraiser, but that information could not be confirmed officially Thursday afternoon.
If they both visit, they will be the first presidential hopefuls to visit the state in preparation for the 2008 general election.
The Republican National Committee will also meet in Jackson next week, Parady said.
Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, won the Iowa Republican Party straw poll Saturday. Wyoming Republicans voted last spring to hold their presidential primary the same day as New Hampshire's, "whenever that may be."
The purpose of the early GOP primary was to draw more attention to the state from Republican presidential candidates.
The New Hampshire secretary of state has yet to set a date for that state's primary, traditionally the first in the nation.
