GREEN RIVER - A high-speed chase early Friday ended in a crash and the arrest of two teenagers sought in connection with the killing of a Nebraska mother and her young daughter, according to Wyoming Highway Patrol officials.

The two teens, who were wanted for questioning by the North Platte, Neb., Police Department, led Wyoming troopers on a 67-mile chase on Interstate 80 before finally being apprehended.

North Platte authorities said the bodies of a 39-year-old woman and her 5-year-old daughter were discovered in their North Platte apartment Thursday night by a neighbor who was concerned about their barking dog.

Officials said the bodies of Lori Solie and daughter Tiara were found around 10 p.m. The pair had been stabbed multiple times in the chest, abdomen and neck.

Late Friday, the local paper, the North Platte Bulletin, identified the two captured in Wyoming as Solie's daughter, 15-year-old Alicia Ochoa, and Michael Grandon, 18, also of North Platte.

North Platte Police Chief Martin Gutschenritter said the shocking double murder was the first in North Platte since Police Chief Sheldon Mecomber and officer George Rogers were gunned down in 1920.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol said the chase began on I-80 around 8 a.m. Friday about 20 miles west of Rawlins. It ended about 23 miles east of Rock Springs, but only after a stolen vehicle crashed into a Highway Patrol car parked on the side of the road.

Wyoming troopers had been alerted by Nebraska authorities to be on the lookout for a stolen black Ford Mustang containing two people wanted for questioning by North Platte police. Troopers spotted the vehicle in the westbound lane and attempted to lay out spike strips to flatten the car's tires. But the driver went around the spikes and fled west.

A patrol news release said the ensuing chase reached speeds of up to 115 mph.

The chase ended when a second trooper stopped his patrol car on the side of the road in an attempt to lay out more spike strips. The Mustang driver again attempted to steer around the strips, but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the rear of the parked, unoccupied patrol car.

Officials said both occupants were taken into custody at gunpoint without further incident. Both cars were totaled.

The two were transported by ambulance to the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. They were treated, released and transported to the Sweetwater County jail awaiting contacts by North Platte authorities.

According to the North Platte Bulletin's Web site, Lori Solie's body was found lying on the kitchen floor and the body of Tiara was found on the floor of her bedroom. The site said two North Platte investigators would be traveling to Wyoming early Saturday to interview the pair. No murder warrants have been issued.

"I feel very confident that this case will get resolved and those responsible will be held for their crimes," said Gutschenritter, who added that his staff would work around the clock to solve the case.

There was no evidence of a break-in. Gutschenritter said investigators believe Solie was divorced and lived only with her daughter at the apartment. The bodies were being taken to Scottsbluff for autopsies, Gutschenritter said.

Officials said the stolen Mustang involved in the chase belonged to Lori Solie. The couple is being held on a Nebraska warrant for being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
