SHERIDAN -- A study of Sheridan's water resources predicts that the northern Wyoming city's water supply will be depleted by 2054 if additional storage or water rights are not secured.

The study assumed a 2 percent growth rate for the city and a 3.6 percent growth rate for the county over the period.

Wyoming Water Development Commission project manager Mike Besson says if additional storage or supply is needed, permitting for new reservoirs can take between five and 20 years.

A public meeting will be held next spring as possible supply and storage alternatives are evaluated.
