I, as a strong woman warrior who stands for women and men, attended the Aug. 15 City Council meeting and am dismayed that the facts have not been fully or accurately reported. The meeting was attended by a large number of people who are very frustrated that Councilwoman Amanda Huckabay is on a mission to denigrate all men and portray all women as victims. Lucas Cogdill stood at the podium as well and made some very strong points that were not mentioned in the article regarding City Council in the Aug. 17 edition of this newspaper.
I have been in the workforce for over 30 years and have worked with many wonderful men, as well as have many friends and family members who are great husbands, fathers and productive members of this town. Huckabay does not speak for all women when she talks about the threats from men in grocery stores, bars, etc., etc., etc. and should be cautious in painting all men with such broad strokes. She should resign or at the very least, learn to conduct herself in a manner that rises to the level of professionalism that is expected of our elected city officials.
