An article in the Rocket Miner entitled "Barasso bill to put oil and gas control in state hands" should be of great interest to all citizens of our state who enjoy hunting, fishing and the outdoors. When Barrasso and Cheney say "state hands" they are talking about our Republican Legislature who will then make decisions as to who can use this land. Now, I would guess that our Republican Legislature would love to put all land in the hands of the oil and gas industry to whom they owe so much. Barrasso received $337,900, Enzi $203,583, and Cheney $25,400, and I'm not even including the local Republican legislators or county commissioners.
Now, if you are receiving that much money from a certain industry, don't you owe them something? Our Republican party in Wyoming is bought and sold by the oil and gas industry. The nomination for second in line in the EPA who was a coal industry lobbyist just sponsored a fundraiser for Barrasso in Washington. Talk about crony capitalism.
So, if you are a guy or girl who loves nature and enjoys the freedom and the wide open spaces Wyoming has to offer, you better think twice whether voting Republican is in your interests or the oil, gas and coal industry who are about to do a major land grab and fence you out. The Republican party has long taken Wyoming voters for granted. I hope that enough open thinking residents will look in a different direction in November as to who will best address their interests.
