Editor:

I am very concerned about the building of a detention center in Evanston. The private prison company MTC that wants to build it has numerous violations against it in every state that it operates in. Violations ranging from human rights to employment. There is a pending law suit here in Wyoming over MTC’s discrimination of tribal members hired by the company in Riverton. In Texas they faced allegations of under staffing, tainted food, and sexual abuse by guards at the center. Two guards were convicted of crimes within the center. The idea of detaining people with out due process and building prisons to incarcerate them in has been shown by history to be one of the most evil actions done by the most ruthless people in history. From the detention centers of Nazi Germany to Heart Mountain right here in Wyoming we have examples of the treatment of people that has rightfully caused humanity to say "Never again."

Detention centers in other states they have been charged with not feeding people enough, violent treatment, lack of medical care and civil rights violations. They have split up families and detained children that are American citizens with no court oversight. The people they incarnate are not given the rights that America says is self evident that all all humans are to be given.

The people of Wyoming have the same moral decision that the people of Germany had as they watched the Jewish people being put in detention centers. Are we going to allow this to happen in our state?
