Editor:

Your question of the week: What does it mean to be an American? My answer: In theory it should mean to appreciate the good luck or hard path of intention to live in the greatest country the world has ever seen; to enjoy and apply the Constitutional values of equality, justice, freedom, and liberty. However, in the age of Trump, I think in reality most of us live as runaway slaves -- unless you're all in with him, you are a target because he's given the message that his friends have open season on his detractors. It's an odd way to live that Americans now wonder if every day brings us closer to the end of his time in the White House or to him starting a war (nuclear, conventional, or civil). All the best,

BRUCE JOHNSON, Casper
