On the subject of CAEDA, I too once asked where does the money go that they get from the county and city. I was told by one of their reps, it was none of my business. I think people know me well enough to know I never back down. I asked what the salaries were, and again was shut down. I said "You're using our tax dollars and you can tell us where it goes." She said they were a private entity and do not have to disclose this information but they say to the world they are a nonprofit? The point is they are nothing more then a entity who shops for grants and loans and pick winners and losers in business, propping up many who could go to the bank and get a loan just like we did when we opened ours. I was told by a former commissioner that when CAEDA began it was the intent to be self-sufficient; that was 20 years ago. So when will they be able to pay for themselves? I say no more money to these guys, they can't even manage to turn in their expense records to the county, let alone the city. They have used about $13 million now of tax payers dollars and the only accomplishment is the rail hub, which is really nothing to write home about. I, like Laird, Goodenough and many others, want to see their records, and I'm sure we would all like to stop funneling tax dollars to CAEDA, after all that really have they produced, an unelected board of lobbyists who only support what they think we need in Casper. The free market will decide what is built or not built, it's worked for 200 years, and picking winners and losers to get free money is not promoting the free market.
