I just wanted to let you know that we did it! There were 128 blankets tied on Saturday Dec. 16 and we also received 35 lap blankets/quilts from the Missionaries at Martin's Cove and 2 quilts from one of the Casper LDS Wards for a total of 165 blankets. There were 161 people who signed in to help and they ranged from babies to people in their 80's. It was a great turnout and far exceeded our expectations! These blankets will go to those in need of warmth and comfort.
This would not have been possible without all those who donated time, fleece, blankets, food and the support of the Casper community. We thank the LDS Church for providing fleece to make 100 blankets. How amazing is that! We also want to thank Subway for donating subs, chips, and condiments for those who came to help; Eileen's Colossal Cookies for donating delicious cookies; Lani McBee, Michele Wistisen, Kerri Martin, and Pastor McBride for taking pictures and posting them; Bobby from Channel 13 for covering the event; Diane Way for providing paper goods, water, and food for volunteers; and we want to thank the Casper Star Tribune for promoting this event and the Fleece Blanket Project. I know there were a lot of people who helped make this possible and we appreciate everyone for making this happen. Thank you all so much!
We will continue to make blankets on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10am to 3pm.
Thank you for helping make our community a great place to live and for helping those in need of comfort and warmth!
