Bullying is a significant issue in Natrona County School District and the recent waterboarding incident at Kelly Walsh is a blazing example of bullying gone catastrophic. This is everyone's problem. Where were that boy's teammates who should have helped him? Where was the parental support? Where are these kids supposed to turn for help when there are no zero tolerance policies being carried out in the school district? Teachers, coaches, principals, all need to be a unified front and let bullies know that consequences will be severe. We are failing the victims and enabling the assailants! I hesitate to put my home-schooled child into public high school now with all that is happening. Why should my child miss out on the high school experience and positive enrichment because I can't trust the public school system is a safe environment to send her? What's happening in many bullying cases is criminal activity and students involved should be expelled and suffer criminal charges. Natrona County School District needs to send a much stronger message to the offenders.
