A few days ago while in the Phoenix airport waiting for my flight I was talking to a gentleman from Washington, D.C. We talked about many things, including politics and the condition of the United States today when he asked me if I remembered the 9-11 attacks. Of course, I said, who doesn’t? His next question, something I had never thought about before, really hit me. He asked, do you remember what happened on 9-12? I thought about it for a minute and asked what he meant by that. Well, he said, on that day it seemed that the whole of the United States came together. We were all hoping and praying for the same thing. There were no colors, no barriers, everyone had one goal. Republicans and democrats even agreed on almost everything. Patriotism was at an all time high. Even after that terrible event, it brought the entire country together. We don’t need another 9-11 but we do need to come together again like we did then. That would certainly make for a more unified America.
