Over 900 hate groups and all forms of violence must be condemned, especially since the neo-Nazis, skinheads and KKK have demonstrated their power at Charlottesville last month. Since Trump’s election there have been 900 hate incidents 10 days after the election by many supporters of Trump or in his name, documented by Southern Poverty Law Center.
According to SPLC Intelligence reports, extremists secessionist, militant movements are popping up all over country, new radical rights group to do battle in clashes in criminal gangs and are killing cops.
I just saw the movie “Lincoln” produced by Steven Spielburg. This gives the story of the Civil War and President Lincoln’s role in bringing the Emancipation Proclamation—freeing the slaves and having congress vote for the 13th amendment as well as giving surrender terms for peace by the Confederates.
Lincoln toured the battlefield and saw the hundreds of dead soldiers. Then Lincoln was assassinated. However, over the years many have not gotten over that the North won the war. So now we are seeing the rise of the hate groups across America.
Sen. John Danforth, (R) Missouri, and author of “Faith and Politics” just spoke on NPR about President Trump’s dividing our country and testing our moral values. We would do well to relearn the history of the Civil War and begin listening to one another, especially in our congress.
