SUGARLOAF, Maine - The University of Wyoming women's Nordic skiing team continued to dominate the competition at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Championships on Wednesday.
UW's Jennifer Kinner was especially dominant.
One day after winning the 1.5-kilometer sprint race, Kinner was victorious in the 15-kilometer classic to remain undefeated in two years on the national club skiing level.
Kinner, a senior from Casper, finished in 53 minutes, 9 seconds. Teammate Melissa Gangl, a freshman from Casper, was second in 56:20.
Erika Edgely (Lake Placid, N.Y.), Kristin Boroff (Pinedale), Brooke Umphlett (Casper) and Ava Bell (Laramie) also placed among the top 10 for the Cowgirls.
UW, which is seeking to defend its USCSSA national championship, leads the team standings.
The Cowboys were second in the classic, led by Riley Hopeman, a junior from Lander who finished in 44:47, good for fifth place. Hopeman was sixth in Tuesday's sprint.
Justin Daraie, a junior from Casper, finished sixth, 13 seconds behind Hopeman. Joshua Peterson (Lander), Collin McRann (Lander) and Adam Alspach (Casper) also finished among the top 15 for UW.
The teams take today off before competing in Friday's 8.5-kilometer skate interval. The championships conclude Saturday with a 3.5-kilometer relay race.
